Meghan Gray

PRACTICE FOUNDER & DIRECTOR | PSYCHOLOGIST | BOARD APPROVED SUPERVISOR

I possess an empathic, intentional and warm therapeutic style, wherein I place value on creating a strong connection, trust & rapport with you to enable you to share about yourself comfortably. I feel humour, play and authenticity as a therapist can be important facilitators in the counselling process. In sessions, I provide structure, and am analytical and practical in my approach as I hope to support you to new areas of growth and self-awareness.

As your psychologist, I work from a relational and attachment-based approach. Stemming from my early career experience working in severe and complex trauma settings, I have developed a particular interest in trauma and as such have a strongly trauma-informed practice. This further supports my primary other interest in working with eating disorders. Within my work with eating disorders, I focus on helping individuals to develop a healthy sense of self and new ways of coping to enable them to separate from their eating disorder self and reconnect with a meaningful life once again.

The other area I am also passionate about is supporting couples to new ways of relating to one another. I draw predominately on the Gottman Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) approaches to do so.

My primary therapeutic models I draw from are that of Schema Therapy and Attachment Frameworks, alongside but not limited to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Neuropsychotheraphy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Three Phased Approach to the treatment of Trauma, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Within these approaches, I aim to teach you psychological strategies to: effectively manage painful and uncomfortable emotions; disengage from unhelpful beliefs about self and others; and reaffirm your purpose/direction and create motivation through your values.

I also offer supervisory services to provisional and general psychologists as a board-approved supervisor.

I look forward to working with you here at GrayMind Psychology.
