Samantha Flanagan

MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER | PERINATAL CLINICIAN

I am deeply committed to creating a non-judgmental and safe space where mothers and parents can receive support for both the big and small challenges in the transition to parenting. In a world where there is often immense pressure and judgment placed on women and mothers, my goal is to help you navigate this transition with understanding and compassion.

I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over eight years of experience in psychology, social work, and counselling within women’s and family-focused settings. I specialise in perinatal mental health, supporting mothers and parents through pregnancy, the transition to parenthood, and beyond.

I am a trained Circle of Security® and Bring Baby Home Facilitator and have completed additional training through the Perinatal Training Centre. As such, I work with a range of issues, including the adjustment to motherhood, anxiety, depression, postnatal distress, birth trauma, perfectionism in motherhood, attachment and bonding challenges, perinatal loss, and the impact of childhood trauma on parenting. I also enjoy supporting parents of children aged 0–5 in developing their parenting approach and skills.

I would describe my therapeutic approach as warm, compassionate, client-centred, trauma-informed, and firmly grounded in attachment-based principles. I draw on a number of models including Circle of Security, Compassion-Focused, CBT, grief and loss frameworks, and systemic family therapy.

I am passionate about creating a safe, non-judgmental space for parents to navigate the many challenges of parenting in a world full of expectations and pressure.

If you feel my approach may be a good fit for you, I would be honoured to support you here at GrayMind Psychology.
