Samantha Flanagan
MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER
I am deeply committed to creating a non-judgmental and safe space where mothers and parents can receive support for both the big and small challenges in the transition to parenting. In a world where there is often immense pressure and judgment placed on women and mothers, my goal is to help you navigate this transition with understanding and compassion.
I work with a range of issues including perinatal anxiety and depression, birth trauma, identity shifts in motherhood, perfectionism, attachment and bonding challenges, perinatal loss, and the impact of your own childhood experiences on your parenting journey. I have a particular interest in supporting those who may feel they “should be coping” but are quietly struggling, and those carrying invisible grief or worry in the background of their parenting experience.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and grounded in collaboration. I draw on a number of models including Circle of Security, Compassion-Focused CBT, grief and loss frameworks, and systemic family therapy. I am a trained Circle of Security® and Bring Baby Home Facilitator and have completed additional training through the Perinatal Training Centre.
If you feel my approach may be a good fit for you, I would be honoured to support you here at GrayMind. Psychology.
